OUR MISSION

Hope, Help & Relief Haiti’s mission is to create a conscious community of leaders in music, fashion, film, finance and art to become agents of change for the renewal of Haiti.

Andre Harrell has joined forces with Donna Karan's Urban Zen Foundation, The Mary J Blige and Steve Stoute Foundation for the Advancement of Women Now (FFAWN) and Andre Balazs and The Standard to galvanize a community in response to Haiti's immediate need to rebuild.

Haiti is one of the poorest nations in the world. As of January 28th 2010, 200,000 people have died since the catastrophic earthquake and tragically the death toll continues to rise. On an over-populated island of 9 million, over 3 million people have been irreparably devastated. Haiti’s capital Port-Au-Prince is now a center of homelessness.

On Monday, February 8, 2010, Mary J. Blige will give an exclusive, intimate performance for 250 of New York’s special guests at ‘A Night of Humanity’ dinner at the Urban Zen Center. Located a few blocks away at the On Top of The Standard, ‘The Relief Party’ will have an additional 150 guests with a performance by Wyclef Jean. 100% of the funds raised will go to disaster relief and rebuilding in Haiti.

The most immediate relief that the Haitian community needs is shelter, medicine, food and water. That’s today! Tomorrow, the most crucial needs will be a place to call home. This approach reflects Urban Zen’s philosophy of embracing past, present and future. By preserving a historical vital culture, we embrace the past. In the present, we’ll respond to the sorrow of the Haitian people, and the need for immediate medical care. But our collective commitment extends into the future as well. Over time, once this crisis has been addressed, Haitians will be faced with the task of rebuilding Haiti. We’ll be there for them. The three organizations designated to receive funds from this event are Habitat for Humanity (who will partner with the New York City Housing Authority to source volunteers), Partners in Health and Yéle Haiti.
